The property sales team at leading Solicitors and Estate Agents Rollo Davidson McFarlane are celebrating following the best November sales since 2006 - the height of the property boom.
Property Sales Manager in St Andrews, Paul Gallagher, said, “Traditionally November is a slow month for us with fewer enquiries and fewer sales, but this year things seem to have just got better and better as the year went on. We have been rushed off our feet”
Mr Bob Inch, a partner in the firm, sounded a note of caution, however. “It is good to see such strong sales, especially at this time of year, but we should remember that not all categories of property are selling and some properties have been on the market for quite a while. Generally, though, things have improved immeasurably.”
The market in Fife enjoyed a boom from the early 2000’s but this ended abruptly with The Credit Crunch. Until then it was always a strongly seasonal market, busiest in Spring and Summer with peaks in June and September and much quieter during the winter months with November, December and January being the quietest of all. This year has seen that pattern almost disappear.
Ewen Sparks, a partner in chartered surveyors J & E Shepherd, agreed. “It is good to see properties selling even in the latter part of the year. In years gone by there were certainly better times of year to market a property, but nowadays they seem to sell all year round.”
